Are you looking to partner with local schools? Or perhaps you have an established relationship you'd like to make stronger? Outreach is becoming a greater need for public libraries as schools make cuts that unfortunately include their academic libraries. This webinar will provide tips on how to take the first steps in fostering a relationship with your local schools. Learn who to network with, how to make lasting connections, and what a growing relationship with your school system can look like. We'll to take a look at your community needs and brainstorm unique approaches stemming from your library's strengths and resources that can help you generate programming that promotes a healthy partnership.

Kat McKay is the branch manager of the Clinton-Massie Branch of the Wilmington Public Library, a unique facility operating out of the Clinton-Massie High School. The branch originally opened in 2004, closing 5 years later due to lack of funding, then reopened in 2011. Kat came on board with the new team as a circulation associate, specializing in children's programming, then transitioned into branch manager in 2018. She holds a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree and a Masters of Science in Photography, and had an awarding career in photojournalism until she returned to Wilmington in 2006 to start a family. Her variety of work experiences helps her cultivate a well-rounded working relationship with the school and a unique library environment for the local community.
